You may be visiting and looking for a church while you are on holiday or visiting friends. You may be moving into the area and looking for a local church to join. Or you may be thinking about coming along because you are looking for something new and have had little or no previous experience of a lively family church before.
Whoever you are we hope you come along and most of all we hope you feel welcome.
If exploring Christian faith is a new direction for you, it might be helpful to know that there are a number of people with us who have recently made that step. They are from all walks of life and at different stages along the way. There are all sorts of reasons to come to church, but most people are looking for something. Companionship, love, truth, healing, acceptance, God, faith, direction, a stronger sense of community, or just sharing with others the fact that there is more to life than we can physically see and directly feel.
Adults and young people who were not brought up in a Christian family approach church with both scepticism and some big questions that they need answering. So what next? Many people do not feel comfortable with coming along to a Sunday service as a first step. There are alternatives. Each year, the church runs an Alpha course (see below). This is intended as a relaxed place where people can explore spirituality and faith without making any commitment. Big questions can be asked. People who have attended Alpha say it is fascinating to hear the questions other people ask.
Alternatively you could ask to join one of our small home groups and just get to know a few people as a first step.
Don't leave questions unasked. Come and search for the meaning of life with us. Real life is joy and sorrow, sharing, searching and hopefully finding. There is a lot of materialism around, Much of life today does not even acknowledge our spiritual side.
Church means God's community in this place. Love and fellowship is what binds us together.
