All Saints

Wickham Market

All Saints is a welcoming friendly village church near the centre of Wickham Market

Our benefice has two churches, only a mile or so apart, both with bells which can often be heard on Sunday mornings before services as well as on practice evenings and special occasions. The two churches work closely together, with a shared team leadership for worship, prayer meetings, benefice choir and home groups.

All Saints Church in Wickham Market is very close to the village centre. It is family friendly with a small special area should children need it, movable seating, a screen and sound system (which allows us to share a live stream of our main service) and with a more contemporary style of worship

St. Peter & St. Paul Church in Pettistree is also a friendly, welcoming church with a more traditional style of worship. Details of their services will be included on this web site.

Both churches draw people in Wickham Market, Pettistree and other surrounding villages, welcome visitors, those just wondering about faith and those seeking information on the events in life that may lead to a baptism, thanksgiving, wedding, or funeral service.

Our church Prayer

Glorious Father in heaven, for your love freely given, we praise your name.

Help us point to Jesus, the gospel to proclaim.

By your Spirit, might we more and more Love, Grow, and Serve as we your Son adore.

Amen

Daily Message (NIV)

Life Through the Spirit

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Wonderful worship, prayer, and teaching

(see 'Church life' and the Gallery for more pictures)

Pettistree church is undergoing some replastering and painting

A few pictures to show what is happening after week 2

(Note the five crosses to the bottom right)

A further update after week 3

All the plaster has now been removed from the second lift at the top of the Nave and a start made on the next level down, the West door has had a second skin fitted with a lock to allow access to the ringing chamber while work continues inside the church, the old ceiling of the Parish Room has been removed and replaced with new plasterboard awaiting a plaster skim and a thick layer of rockwool insulation and no bell ringers are left in this container overnight.........

A quieter week as a lot of the team were off on Easter break but progress continues with the plaster removal in the nave, the alarming fissures in the corners of the upper walls have been carefully refilled with flint and lime mortar and the floor in the Parish Room is receiving new wall plates and replacement sections of floor joists where they have rotted in to the brick walls.

And after week 5

Week five has seen the continued removal of the existing plaster which is now nearly completed, a brickwork wall revealed from behind the plaster on the old north door, in the parish room the new floor joists are in, the old ones have been sprayed for bugs and rot etc and the whole area is now level and awaiting the new floorboards, two additional air-brick holes have been made and in the process it was discovered that the parish room does indeed have a slate damp proof course in the brickwork.

Week 6

Martin  pinched an extract from some of the notes and items arising from a site visit made on May 7th by the main contractor

1- Render removal will be completed by Friday.

2- We have found and in the process of removing cement based render at low level to Nave North wall at the east end. I guess there could be some damp retained in the wall behind this area.

3- Crack repairs and general masonry repairs will be completed on Monday 12th May.

4- The team are speaking to Electrician and arranging for works to be carried out next week.

5- Plasterers are programmed to commence Monday 19th May. (1 week behind programme)

The parish room has now received the under floor insulation wool, a second membrane has been fixed on top, the edges will then be taped to the walls, and the floorboards are on site ready to be laid.
